pressure treated lumber and decks
Now is that time of year when you want to be outside sitting on your deck, drinking a couple of cold ones and grilling up some burgers while taking in some rays and a nice breeze. Bottom line is, if you don't have a deck, get one. Everybody loves a deck. Almost anybody with some knowledge of design and construction and a determination to have the biggest baddest deck on the block can do it. With the help of some family members I just built my own using all pressure treated lumber, even for the decking itself. I decided against the composite decking because its ridiculously expensive and I've heard some negative things about it like it fades, it grows mold, it's hard to clean etc. If you maintain pressure treated wood properly (my suggestion is washing and re-staining every spring), pressure treated will look great for years. Also, you can build a nice size deck for a relatively low cost if you do it yourself. Throw a case of beer towards your friends and family and most of them would be more than happy to help. I've been designing decks for years and I finally got to build my own. It was fun and rewarding, not to mention it's the biggest and baddest on the block. If your building a deck or thinking about feel free to ask questions. Don't forget to check out www.loveyourland.com for tips and advantages of pressure treated lumber.
